The day in Sequim started with only 5 girls arriving at Sequim High School about 9:00 a.m. where they practiced with the SHS choir for the songs they would sing together that night for their first concert of their tour. As you know, the rest of the choir that was to come with them, was still making their way to Seattle. We weren't sure if there would be an interpreter with them, so a call was made to a Sequim resident to see if one of her two adopted daughters from Russia would be willing to interpret for everyone. Both girls, Ludah and Luboff, came right down to the school, to our relief, and even spent the rest of the day with the Russian girls. Although, Tatiana, could help with interpretation, it seem to put the girls at ease to have the two local girls there. The practice only lasted one hour and the SHS choir teacher, Stephanie Clark, said it was good to have the girls help out with pronunciation of some Russian words. The combined choirs song one Russian song and one English song. After practice, we had about an hour before Rocket Transportation would pick them up and take them to Jamestown and meet up with the rest of the group. Ludah was going to give the girls a tour of the school ground, but they wanted to go SHOPPING! So we pilled into Ludah's van and went to Wal Mart. They all had money and did a little spending. We returned to the school and Rocket Transporation picked them up and took them to Jamestown. I did not accompany them, but Helen has filled in that part for me. They returned for dinner and then to the auditorium to get dressed and a little rehearsal before the concert. The concert was well attended and very well received. EXCELLENT JOB!

I was wrong about one thing I said about the arrival of the first group. Their teacher, Natasha, was NOT with them. She came with the second group and was first off the plane, making it easy to round up the others as they straggled off. The adult in the first group of 6 was their interpreter Tatiana, whom I had not seen before. Not a big deal, but I might as well keep the record as accurate as possible.
